Chapter 1 : The Law Of God Regarding Sinners Punishment

Sin was committed since the beginning of creation when God created Adam. Humans continued to sin a generation after generation and sin had kindled God’s anger, so he decided to punish sinners. He punished every sinner for his sin and left the right without punishment. Let us have a look at some of the stories of the early people and note how punishment was only for sinners.

1-1:  Adam and Eve Sin:

“And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast was done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow, thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” (Genesis 3: 13-19)

(The sin of Adam and Eve was the first to be committed by humans. We see that God punished them on earth with toil and pain. He did not decide to punish them by throwing their children in hell fire. This punishment is also for every man and woman, starting with Adam till the end of the world. God has never stopped this punishment at any time including the time Jesus Christ was born and died for the people as was said. This penalty was suffered by every soul including Jesus, his disciples and whoever believed in him. It will remain until the judgment day. God had not stopped this punishment, not in the early nor the modern days, not before the Christ was born, nor when he died on the cross. This contradicts with the claim that Jesus died to save people from Adam and Eve sin.

Conclusion

God has punished the man for Adam and Eve sin with a worldly punishment that will remain until the last day. Jesus salvation did not stop it nor did he save any man from that penalty.

1-2:  Noah’s People Sin

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made the man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.” (Genesis 6: 5-9)

“And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and everything that is in the earth shall die.” (Genesis 6:17)

“And Noah built an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt-offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.” (Genesis 8:20-21). (Here God was mad at sinners during the time of Noah and decided to drown them as he swore. Who remained on earth were only Noah and the believers. The dead, i.e. the sinners who were punished by God, were not included in Jesus salvation because they died before he was born. Survivors, i.e. Noah and his followers, were saved due to their faith. They did not have to wait for Jesus salvation. God was pleased with them and blessed them as mentioned in the following verse:)

“And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I demand the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man, shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein. (Genesis 9:1-7)

(we note here that God had imposed the punishment of an eye for an eye when he said: surely your blood of your lives will I require, and: Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man, shall his blood be shed. The law is the basis of God’s punishment: to punish the sinner himself and not to punish someone for someone else)

1-3:  People of Lot Sin

“17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. 20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; “(Genesis 18: 17-20)

“And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;” (Genesis 19: 15 and 24)

” And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea-shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” (Genesis 22: 15-18)

(Here we see how God punished and destroyed Sodom for their sins not for someone else’s and how he blessed Abraham)

1-4: The sin of Er and Onan Sons of Judah

“And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar. And Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displease the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.” (Genesis 38: 6-10)

(Here is God’s prompt punishment to the evil ones, it indicates that God punished sinners directly and does not wait for the last generation)

Reading the former stories leads us to two conclusions:

1- God punishes sinners even if that will result in complete extermination. People who died for their sins did not take advantage of Jesus death and was of no use that he died for them, they all died before he came for salvation. Jesus should have originated from the beginning to save all people from their sins, or he might have been able to save us from Adam and Eve sin and keep us in heaven.

2- God is pleased with good people and never punishes them for the sins of others who live during their time. Noah, Lot, Abraham and others survived because of their belief in God who blessed them and allowed them to multiply. They did not have to wait for Jesus to save them from the sins of their brothers.

This contradicts the claim that Jesus came to save previous generations from their sins. What remains is the possibility that he came to save people during his time and afterward.

Conclusion :

During the time of ancient peoples: God punished only the sinners and never punished the good for the wickedness of the bad. Therefore, the sinners never made use of Jesus salvation because they were punished. The same goes for the good, they survived without having to wait for Jesus salvation or believe in him as a savior or redeemer. Redemption was of no use to both the righteous and the wrongdoers alike.
